Hi, I'm Laura and I cover Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.

 

I have been in the motor trade for over 20 years. I have been integral in getting some well-known national brands up and running from infancy within the motor sector, and I am so excited to be part of the growth plan for Connected Car Finance as they embark on their next phase of growth.

 

The Automotive sector is heavily male-dominated and for most of my car career, I have been the first female into many roles within the organisations, and here at Connected I am keeping that trend as the first female Connector, led by one of the most empowering and impressive woman I have been lucky enough to work with, our captain Laura Jones.

Everyone I have met since joining the company has been amazing. They are the most supportive, sincere and nurturing colleagues you could look to find. My co-workers soon became friends, and I am looking forward to it feeling like family – as they no doubt will be. The spirit is like nothing I have ever known within the automotive sector, and I just love the culture and ethos of the business.

Connected has a real pioneering attitude to the Automotive sector, and I am so excited to be part of it. I have my boss man, Luke McCarthy, to thank for finding me and bringing me home. He found me in the pile of CV’s where my name stood out ‘Laura Baker’ sharing (nearly that name) with the former Laura Barker (now Jones) and here is where my Connected destiny began… All very spooky!!

My auto career started out as finance administration (many many moons ago) and then onto car sales which lead to Sales and Finance Manager, to General Manager up to Area and Regional Management positions. Most of my car finance background is in car supermarkets and independent car dealerships, which I believe makes me a great fit for Connected, as we reach out to the independent car dealership sector to help make dealers the best they can be and grow their businesses. 

I have a true passion for non-prime and for a large chunk of my career I have specialised in this area. I truly believe that every customer deserves a first-class service and the best package they can get, regardless of their credit score. I couldn’t begin to tell you how I ended up in the car industry, I didn’t go searching for it, it happened and instead of me choosing it… it chose me. And as we all know if you get through your first 6 months in this sector, you then become a lifer and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

I am a massive animal lover and have a frug called Peggy who is my world and a right little scamp. A frug is a cross between a frenchie and a pug. I also have a bunny called Button, who acts more like a pooch than my actual pooch. He will literally chew anything!! His worse than an 8-week-old puppy… 

 

I have a large interest in the supernatural and spiritual world, as I read tarot and have a diploma in Reiki healing as a Reiki Master. I love travelling and have been to a wide range of places where I soak up the culture and get a real buzz to experience other ways of life, I have toured Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal and even been to Iraq !! (my best friend is Kurdish – Iraq- true story and yes it was for a holiday). There is nothing I enjoy more than chucking on a backpack and hitting the open road to explore and broaden my horizons.

We are a credit broker and not a lender.

Connected Car Finance is a trading style of DSG Financial Services Ltd. DSG Financial Services Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales with a company number 02313903. Our VAT registration number is 322 3523 42. DSG Financial Services Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 649675.

We can introduce you to a limited number of lenders and their finance products. We are not an independent financial advisor; we will provide details of products available, but no advice or recommendation will be made. You must decide whether the finance product is right for you. We do not charge you a fee for our services. Whichever lender we introduce you to, we will typically receive commission from them (either a fixed fee or a fixed percentage of the amount you borrow). The commission arrangements we have in place vary, depending on how you are introduced to us and with which lender we are able to place you with. When you are introduced to us by a motor retailer, we may be paid a flat fee, regardless of the interest rate you pay, finance product, length of agreement, or amount of finance. We may also be paid a fixed rate of commission, calculated as a percentage of the amount of finance. We will always introduce you to the most suitable finance lender offering you the most appropriate finance product for your needs, and at the best interest rate possible (which is determined by the finance lender) based on the commission we are paid and by your credit profile. The amount of commission we receive and pay, and your credit profile, will impact the amounts you pay under your credit agreement. In both cases, we will pass a proportion of the commission paid to us to the motor retailer that introduced you to us. We may also be paid, and pay the motor retailer, higher commission depending on the type and age of vehicle or based on the finance product you are provided with. In these cases, commission levels vary based on the levels of work required to be undertaken by us and the motor retailer. Whilst we may receive higher levels of commission based on the finance product you are provided with, this is always based on the level of work required in relation to the particular product and we will not seek to secure finance products that are not suitable for your needs.

We may select a lender which is part of our group (Unity Auto Finance Ltd). We will only ever select this particular lender from the panel available to us if it is in your interests and is the most appropriate lender for your particular needs.
